A 51 year old woman from Kolkata, India had some terrible stomach aches in addition to acid reflux for 2 months. After that, she finally managed to visit the local hospital, where the doctors found something that was absolutely shocking. Well, the doctors at the local hospital found that the 51 year old woman had gallstones stuffed inside of her body. They’ve found 5,000 gallstones, and 1 hour after that, the doctors estimated that they’ve found almost 12,000 gallstones. Unbelievable, right?

Well, she is probably feeling rather light on her feet after getting all of those stone out of her organism. They really made her life difficult and they were disrupting and interfering with the crucial digestive functions in her body. But, now they were finally all gone.

Dr. Makhan Lala Saha, one of the doctors who performed the laparoscopic surgery said that he was shocked to see the large number of gallstones that they’ve extracted from the patient’s gallbladder. “I had never imagined that a gall bladder could contain so many gallstones”, he said.

He also said that he needed help from many assistants from the hospital to help count all the tiny stones. They were all wearing double layered rubber gloves of course. And, after 5 hours counting, the assistants concluded that there were in fact almost 12,000 stones between 2 mm and 5 mm in size. Dr. Makhan Lala Saha also said that he performed some high profile surgeries before and he thinks that this one is possibly a world record and a personal achievement as well.

Dr. Makhan Lala Saha also said that he operated a girl, 2 months before this surgery. This girl had 1,110 stones. He found out that in 1983, medical experts in Britain had removed 3,110 stones from a German patient’s gall bladder. “Right now I feel like this number can replace the past rec.
